Drop down divider screen default settings

at Oak Point Rec Center

I may be wrong on this but it seems to me that the default setting for the drop down screen (that divides the two basketball courts) at TMRC , Oak Point & Liberty should be down by default

Looking at schedule of various activities I did not see any activity where the screen needs to be up. But I am sure there may may be a few events here and there

That said it looks like the default setting for TMRC & Liberty to be set correctly most of the time. Except when they have to pull up the screen at Liberty for Pickleball (not at TMRC , just Liberty)

The issue may be that the dropdown screen default setting for Oak Point Rec Center may be wrong. Especially when they have pickleball sessions

I noticed this because they were using table tennis barriers for pickleball & this cause balls from either side (pickleball or basketball) ending up on other side

If the dropdown screen instead of table tennis barriers had been used , then this issue of balls crossing over would not happen

So that tells me (I may be wrong) that I can only think of rare situations when the middle dropdown screen needs to be up at TMRC or Oak Point (not Liberty) & the default setting should be down not up. Looks like this is correctly done at TMRC but not at Oak Point.

So this would mean that there would be few extra barriers available from Oak Point rec. Center that can be used for the two table tennis courts at the Rec Room at Oak Point Rec. Center. In fact it is possible they may have few extra barriers from Oak Point Rec. Center that can be used at Carpenter Park Rec Room

Old barriers from TMRC & Liberty

I was told that the old barriers from TMRC & Liberty were trashed .

I am assuming they bought these new folding barriers to save storage space & may be cost. I do not know but it is a moot point since what is done is done. Personally I prefer the older barriers as they were table tennis specific & gave a professional look . But given that Plano Rec. does not consider this to be only a basement ping pong recreational activity & not a formal table tennis activity, I guess it does not matter.

Nevertheless hat is kind of funny to me because of what I know about those old barriers. Most of these barriers were bought from a company called

Scholer Micke - table tennis and you

Looks like they no longer make or sell barriers

https://www.schoeler-micke.de/equipment/kleber-reiniger/montage-zubehoer/

You can read the story of this company on this page below

https://www.schoeler-micke.de/informationen/ueber-uns/

Looks like neither Wilfried Micke nor Eberhard Scholer are involved anymore

Anyway Scholder is the most infamous famous person or famous infamous person (depending on how you like it) in the world of table tennis & his tit for tat battles against Dr. Neubauer, the other German TT equipment dealer 9most o fyou may know) resulted in lot of rule & regulation changes. I won't go into detailed long history here.

Anyway, this is why the barriers discarded by Plano Rec. would actually have been collectors' items even if not fully usable. There definitely would have been someone in DFW area who may have wanted to buy them LOL
