As soon as renovations were announced in January 2025, I made a request if lighting can be added below the walking / jogging tracks in TMRC. But I was told, it is too late to change plans.
I do not have the best vision but I can see the table tennis ball reasonably well right below the tracks (in the sacred holy land) where I spend more time than most players (about 67%) even now (used to be like 80% during my competitive playing days). So this is not about me, especially given that I hardly play.
But most players felt that the gym lighting before the renovations was better but I am not sure if anything can be done about it especially without affecting other sports.
But nonetheless some minimal lighting below the tracks would help though design would be tricky so as not to disturb the lighting in the main area in the middle.
But it was disappointing to hear that they spent $15 million for renovations but cannot spend between $150 and $1500 or even $15000 for lighting below the tracks.
