Your other options for table tennis in DFW area Please read the disclaimer page first if you can. If I was younger and am a competitive player living in Plano, would I join Plano Rec. for playing table tennis? If my funds are limited and I have only one option for table tennis, it DEFINITELY would not be Plano Rec. Centers. But if can afford it I would join Plano Rec. as a backup only Why? Plano Rec. is one of the best places for table tennis in the world despite all the issues But unfortunately, DFW is probably the best areas in the country for table tennis since you have so many other options & at least of late, Plano Rec. does not seem to be too keen on attracting members whose primary sport option is table tennis. If I had to choose only one place for table tennis then I would definitely choose Dallas Parks and Recreation even if I live in Plano or even Collin County. Donna Chen’s DFWTT.com has so many options not only in Dallas proper but also at Richardson & Irving Rec Centers. DFWTT.com plays at Timberglen Recreation Center. which is very close to Plano. They play 2 nights (Mon & Wed). All courts are individually barriered. Individual coaching & personal multiball training are possible DFWTT.com also plays at Marcus Recreation Center. On Thursday nights All courts are individually barriered. Individual coaching & personal multiball training are possible DFWTT.com also plays at Heights Recreation Center in Richardson which is very close to Plano. They play 2 days (Friday & Sunday) including a league on Sundays I think. All courts are individually barriered. Individual coaching & personal multiball training are possible Keep in mind that just like Plano Rec., Dallas Parks and Recreation also has like 42 Rec. Centers you can use for other sports including pickleball, tennis, basketball, swimming etc. etc. So when you pay a low membership fee of $25, you can use any of those 42 centers. So if my primary addiction was table tennis I would move to somewhere in Dallas near Irving. So personally I would say I kind of made a mistake moving to Plano when I was playing a little more 7 or 8 years ago since I was only working remotely or in Grand Prairie LOL City of Richardson also has 2 dedicated table tennis rooms with 3 table each one in Height & one at, both are open anytime they are open. Though they are not individually barriered, at least they are not as dangerous as Plano Rec rooms since other recreational games are not mixed in the same room as for table tennis like they do at Plano Rec. Senter Park Recreation Center in Irving has Friday nights and the fee has been $1 forever PERIOD & no other hidden fees for non-residents etc. All courts are individually barriered. Individual coaching & personal multiball training are possible. They also play lot of doubles Currently undergoing renovations as of July 2026 There are 5 or 6 other more expensive dedicated professional table tennis training centers in & around Plano. Click here for webpage that provides all places in Texas & USA But the big issue with Plano rec. is that they do not want to treat Table tennis as a proper (Olympic) sport & most popular in the world than any other sport with 227 members if IOC also being members of ITTF (that is more than football, volleyball etc.). According to Plano Rec. As I have seem OFFICIALLY it looks they want to deliberately downgrade table tennis to ping pong by such actions to deliberately create a bad image for the sport with such actions as
Simply because most players who use Plano Rec. as competitive training place still does not make it a table tennis friendly place since the official policy seems to be that it is still a basement recreational game not worthy of same consideration as tennis or pickleball. Of course there is nothing illegal about it. But in all fairness to Plano Rec. however, almost all Rec. Centers in North America are far worse & a complete joke thanks to inaction by USATT & TTCanada Of course as I stated earlier, all this is a moot point if Plano Rec. does not care about attracting table tennis centric member base |
