This website ttPlano.com is just a collection of friendly suggestions & constructive criticism regarding Plano Parks & Rec. Plano Parks & Rec is still one of the best places in the world for not only table tennis but possibly so many other Olympic, Para Olympic & non-Olympic sports.
It is 6 days a week at 2 gyms (3 days each at TMRC & LRC).
It was 7 days a week in 3 gyms for a period (including the gym at OPC).
Additionally, 2 rec rooms (OPC & CRC) have tables available 7 days a week whenever the center is open & 1 senior center (ages 50+) SJRC 4 days a week.
The rec area at TMRC has a table available as well whenever the center is open.
You will be hard pressed to find a collection of so many recreation centers for a city the size of Plano anywhere in the world with so many sports & activities available with high service levels & ridiculously reasonable price levels, but this does not mean it is perfect or there is no room for improvement.
Most importantly, it also has to be pointed out that these issues discussed at this website related to table tennis are not unique to Plano Parks and Rec. It is the same elsewhere in North America or even worldwide.
As an example, in addition to members from Plano, many table tennis players come here from nearby Frisco, Allen, McKinney etc. (other major cities of Collin County) because they are disgusted at their city recreation centers with almost no real place to play table tennis.
It is also clearly understood that table tennis is not the only sport in town & Plano Parks & Rec. have to constantly juggle schedules for various sports & events often with possibly conflicting priorities.
It has to be also noted that there is always some turnover of employees just like any other business & training new people is always difficult when it is hard to find resources.
It should also be noted that, compared to other sports, table tennis is a real pain to setup & take down. It is doubtful if there are any other recreation centers in North America where recreation center staff do this for the players. So, players in Plano must be thankful (& I know most players are) for the work that Plano staff do at TMRC & LRC by setting up & taking down the tables week after week, as this is a thankless job.
